In 2021, two independent female founders — Rhianne, of Rhianne Sian Designs, and Natalie, of Awesome Botanical — met at a local event in the North East.
One was passionate about self-care through skincare and fragrance; the other, an illustrator with a deep love for storytelling through art. What brought them together was more than just business — it was a shared belief that scent and memory are deeply intertwined.
Over cups of tea and creative chats, an idea began to take shape: what if you could bottle the feeling of home? Of belonging? Of northern places that hold stories in every stone and breeze?
Awesome Scents of the North was born from that vision — a collaborative collection of hand-poured candles inspired by iconic northern locations like Durham, Newcastle, and Northumberland. Each fragrance is matched with bespoke illustrated artwork by Rhianne Sian Designs, bringing together scent and story in a way that feels meaningful, nostalgic, and entirely unique.
